Seismic activity on Aug. 28: Earthquake near Isangel, Vanuatu registered – magnitude 5.0

WEST TANNA, Tafea Province — A 5.0 magnitude quake shook close to Isangel on Friday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which struck the area at 08:32 UTC (19:32 local time), was centered roughly 109 km west-northwest of Isangel. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
