Aug. 5: Earthquake of 5.2 magnitude detected close to Ialibu, Papua New Guinea

KAGUA DISTRICT, Southern Highlands Province — A 5.2 magnitude quake occurred near Ialibu on Wednesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 19:46 UTC (05:46 local time). The epicenter was approximately 31 km south-southwest of Ialibu, at a depth of 10 km.
