On Thursday at 5:29 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement until 8:30 p.m. The alert is for Richmond (Staten Is.), Kings (Brooklyn), Northwest Suffolk, Northeast Suffolk, Southwest Suffolk, Southeast Suffolk, Northern Queens, Northern Nassau, Southern Queens and Southern Nassau.

“Areas of fog during this evening’s commute may become locally dense, reducing visibilities to 1/4 mile or less at times. Motorists should use low beam headlights and remain alert for rapidly changing visibilities. Allow extra time to reach your destination,” says the NWS.
