Update: Earthquake strikes region close to ‘Ohonua, Tonga on July 12 – 5.0 magnitude reported

‘EUA PROPE, ‘Eua — A 5.0 magnitude quake shook near ‘Ohonua on Sunday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 11:09 UTC (23:09 local time), a tremor hit the area at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter about 152 km south of ‘Ohonua.

Another quake with a magnitude 5.4 was registered in the region. It was also recorded near ‘Ohonua on Jul. 8.
