Update: July 7 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake detected near Reykjanes Ridge

A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Reykjanes Ridge on Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 08:30 UTC (06:30 local time). The epicenter was of Reykjanes Ridge, at a depth of 10 km.

Tremors last week

Eight tremors with a magnitude 2.5 or above were reported in the area last week. The strongest, a 5.3 magnitude quake, hit the same region prior to this quake.
