Earthquake of magnitude 5.2 reported close to Puerto Madero, Mexico on July 17

TAPACHULA, Chis. — A 5.2 magnitude quake jolted near Puerto Madero on Friday around midday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook at 18:26 UTC (12:26 local time), with its epicenter about 67 km southwest of Puerto Madero and a depth of 10 km.

Over the last week, there have been 14 tremors with a magnitude 2.5 or higher centered nearby, two of them larger than magnitude 5.5. The biggest, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake, rocked the same region prior to this quake.
