Update: 5.1 magnitude earthquake detected near Miyako, Japan on July 14

A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Miyako on Tuesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which shook the area at 07:44 UTC (17:44 local time), was centered approximately 133 km east-northeast of Miyako. It occurred at a depth of 11 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.0 event, but later upgraded it to 5.1.
