A 5.0 magnitude quake hit near Abuyog around midnight Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which rattled the region at 16:46 UTC (00:46 local time), was centered approximately 19 km east-northeast of Abuyog. It occurred at a depth of 104 km.
