Update: 5.3 magnitude earthquake detected near Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia on July 5

A 5.3 magnitude quake occurred close to Severo-Kuril’sk on Sunday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit at 07:37 UTC (17:37 local time), with its epicenter approximately 78 km south of Severo-Kuril’sk and a depth of 77 km.
