A 5.0 magnitude quake jolted close to Sarangani around midday Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit the area at 05:58 UTC (13:58 local time). It occurred at a depth of 35 km with the epicenter approximately 56 km southwest of Sarangani. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.9 event, but later upgraded it to 5.0.
