A 5.4 magnitude quake occurred near Severo-Kuril’sk on Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit the region at 14:53 UTC (01:53 local time). It occurred at a depth of 17 km with the epicenter roughly 133 km southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.5 but later downgraded to 5.4.
