TAVILDARA, Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province — A 5.1 magnitude quake struck close to Karakenja around midday Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor shook at 06:58 UTC (11:58 local time), with its epicenter roughly 71 km southeast of Karakenja and a depth of 10 km.
