Update: Earthquake jolts region near Miyako, Japan on April 22 – 5.1 magnitude recorded

A 5.1 magnitude quake struck close to Miyako on Wednesday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 12:18 UTC (22:18 local time), a tremor hit the area at a depth of 35 km, with its epicenter roughly 103 km east-northeast of Miyako. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.0 but later upgraded to 5.1.
