A 5.8 magnitude quake hit close to Ternate on Thursday night, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which jolted the region at 14:34 UTC (23:34 local time), was centered approximately 119 km west-northwest of Ternate. It occurred at a depth of 35 km.
