On Thursday at 8:40 p.m. an updated fire weather watch was issued by the National Weather Service valid for Saturday between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. for Teller County/Rampart Range including Pikes Peak and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument.

Residents can expect winds to be west 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph and relative humidity as low as 14%.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” describes the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
