FARKHAR, Badakhshan — A 5.1 magnitude quake hit close to Farkhār on Saturday night, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor struck the region at 18:24 UTC (22:54 local time). It occurred at a depth of 209 km with the epicenter roughly 28 km east of Farkhār.
