Update: Earthquake jolts region close to Pisco, Peru on Feb. 22 – 5.3 magnitude reported

PISCO PROVINCE, Ica — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.3 magnitude quake occurred close to Pisco Sunday afternoon.

The tremor hit at 22:36 UTC (17:36 local time), with its epicenter situated approximately 60 km west-northwest of Pisco and a depth of 35 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later upgraded it to 5.3.
