KYAUKPYU, Rakhine — Tuesday night, a 5.8 magnitude quake was recorded near Yenangyaung, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook the area at 15:34 UTC (22:04 local time). It occurred at a depth of 59 km with the epicenter located approximately 96 km west of Yenangyaung. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.9 event, but later downgraded it to 5.8.
