Around midday Tuesday, a 5.0 magnitude quake was detected near Banda Sea, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 02:50 UTC (11:50 local time), the region was jolted by a tremor. The earthquake shook at a depth of 149 km, with its epicenter of Banda Sea. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
