At 2:56 a.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued an updated red flag warning valid between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. for Teller County/Rampart Range including Pikes Peak and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, Fremont County including Canon City/Howard/Texas Creek, Pueblo County including Pueblo and Huerfano County including Walsenburg.

Residents can expect winds to be west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 8 percent.

“Elevated fire danger is expected. Fires will catch and spread rapidly and erratically,” explains the NWS.
