A 5.0 magnitude quake was recorded near South Sandwich Islands region on Monday around midnight, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

A tremor hit the area at 02:26 UTC (00:26 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located of South Sandwich Islands region and occurred at a depth of 10 km.
