A 5.2 magnitude quake was registered close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Saturday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The tremor, which shook the area at 11:31 UTC (22:31 local time), was centered approximately 165 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Closeby region hit by two tremors over the week
In the past week, two tremors exceeding magnitude 2.5 have been centered in the region. Both were reported in the same area with the stronger — a 5.5 magnitude earthquake — hitting prior to this quake. The other, measuring 4.5, occurred on January 5.
