A 5.1 magnitude quake was reported close to Sainte-Marie Friday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
A tremor jolted the area at 21:48 UTC (17:48 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located roughly 57 km east-northeast of Sainte-Marie and occurred at a depth of 50 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.5 event, but later downgraded it to 5.1.
