Earthquake measuring 5.6 strikes area near Bonin Islands, Japan region on Dec. 26

CHIISAGATA DISTRICT, Nagano — Friday evening, a 5.6 magnitude quake was recorded close to Bonin Islands, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted the region at 10:44 UTC (19:44 local time). It occurred at a depth of 493 km with the epicenter situated of Bonin Islands.
