Dec. 14: Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude registered close to Bitung, Indonesia

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake shook near Bitung Sunday night.

It was reported that a tremor rattled the region at 12:03 UTC (21:03 local time). The epicenter was located approximately 158 km east-northeast of Bitung, at a depth of 61 km.

During the past week, there has been one quake of magnitude 4.7 centered nearby. Five days ago, it was detected near Ternate.
