Update: Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude reported close to Mid-Indian Ridge on Dec. 8

A 5.0 magnitude quake was detected near Mid-Indian Ridge Monday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck at 13:18 UTC (18:18 local time), with its epicenter situated of Mid-Indian Ridge and a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.1 but later downgraded to 5.0.
