Update: Earthquake measuring 5.0 shakes area near Abepura, Indonesia on Oct. 30

SARMI REGENCY, Papua — A 5.0 magnitude quake was reported close to Abepura Thursday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted the region at 08:04 UTC (17:04 local time). It occurred at a depth of 38 km with the epicenter situated about 149 km west of Abepura. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.9 event, but later upgraded it to 5.0.
