Update: Nov. 14 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake registered near Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia

A 5.1 magnitude quake was detected close to Severo-Kuril’sk Friday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit at 11:33 UTC (22:33 local time), with its epicenter situated about 158 km east-southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk and a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later downgraded it to 5.1.
