BATANES, Cagayan Valley — A 5.1 magnitude quake was detected close to Basco Wednesday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor hit the area at 12:02 UTC (20:02 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located about 108 km west-northwest of Basco and occurred at a depth of 27 km.
