At midday on Sunday, a 5.5 magnitude quake was recorded close to Port Blair, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted at 06:38 UTC (12:38 local time), with its epicenter located about 142 km northeast of Port Blair and a depth of 133 km.
