LAS CHOAPAS, Ver. — Sunday afternoon, a 5.0 magnitude quake was detected close to Las Choapas, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck at 23:19 UTC (17:19 local time), with its epicenter located about 12 km south of Las Choapas and a depth of 198 km.
