The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake shook close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Monday morning.

The tremor rattled at 17:22 UTC (04:22 local time), with its epicenter located approximately 136 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and a depth of 21 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.9 event, but later upgraded it to 5.0.
