A 5.2 magnitude quake was recorded close to Nemuro Wednesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor jolted the area at 09:17 UTC (18:17 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 41 km south-southwest of Nemuro and occurred at a depth of 59 km.
