Update: 6.0 magnitude earthquake hits close to Union, Philippines on Oct. 16

SURIGAO DEL NORTE, Caraga — A 6.0 magnitude quake was reported close to Union Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor rocked the area at 23:03 UTC (07:03 local time). It occurred at a depth of 32 km with the epicenter located about 3 km north of Union. The magnitude was originally reported as 6.1 but later downgraded to 6.0.
