Update: Earthquake measuring 5.1 jolts area close to the Fiji Islands on Oct. 16

NAITASIRI, Central Division — A 5.1 magnitude quake was recorded near the Fiji Islands at midday on Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor shook the region at 23:07 UTC (11:07 local time). The epicenter was situated south of the Fiji Islands, at a depth of 554 km.
