At 10 a.m. Monday, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that Tropical Storm Lorenzo is in the Atlantic Ocean, 1,150 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands. The system is moving to the northwest at 16 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph.

“Little change in strength is forecast through early Tuesday, but some gradual intensification is possible by the middle portion of the week”, forecasters wrote.
