A 5.4 magnitude quake was registered near South Sandwich Islands region Wednesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor struck the area at 03:50 UTC (01:50 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter located of South Sandwich Islands region.
