Sunday morning, a 5.0 magnitude quake was reported close to Vilyuchinsk, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which rattled the area at 16:01 UTC (03:01 local time), was centered about 173 km south-southeast of Vilyuchinsk. It occurred at a depth of 52 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
