Update: Seismic activity on Oct. 2 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake near Ardestān, Iran recorded

ARDESTAN, Isfahan Province — A 5.1 magnitude quake was detected close to Ardestān on Thursday around midnight, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor shook at 20:35 UTC (00:05 local time), with its epicenter located roughly 79 km northeast of Ardestān and a depth of 10 km.

Weak shaking has been registered and residents reported feeling the tremor in multiple cities, including Karaj, Malārd, Tehran and Khoresgan according to the USGS DYFI report.
