Update: Sept. 18 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake registered near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Thursday morning.

The tremor shook the area at 19:11 UTC (07:11 local time). It occurred at a depth of 35 km with the epicenter situated about 109 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Tremors past week

Last week, there have been five tremors with a magnitude 5.5 or higher centered nearby. The largest one was a 7.8 earthquake that was detected in the same region prior to this quake.
