Update: Sept. 3 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake detected southeast of the Loyalty Islands

LIFOU, Loyalty Islands Province — A 5.0 magnitude quake was recorded southeast of the Loyalty Islands around midday Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

A tremor rattled the area at 00:37 UTC (11:37 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was situated southeast of the Loyalty Islands of southeast of the Loyalty Islands and occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Last week, there has been one more quake of magnitude 5.0 centered in the region. One day ago, it too was registered southeast of the Loyalty Islands.
