KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH, AK — A 5.0 magnitude quake was detected close to Old Harbor Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 11:02 a.m. (1:02 a.m. local time), the region was shaken by a tremor. The earthquake jolted at a depth of 11 miles, with its epicenter about 81 miles southeast of Old Harbor. Seismologists first reported it as a 2.1 event, but later upgraded it to 5.0.
