Update: Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude reported close to Kandrian, Papua New Guinea on Sept. 1

A 5.0 magnitude quake was registered near Kandrian Monday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which hit the area at 08:58 UTC (18:58 local time), was centered approximately 29 km southwest of Kandrian. It occurred at a depth of 33 km.
