According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred close to Severo-Kuril’sk Tuesday morning.

At 23:57 UTC (09:57 local time), the region was struck by a tremor. The earthquake jolted at a depth of 28 km, with its epicenter roughly 170 km south of Severo-Kuril’sk.
