Earthquake measuring 5.3 shakes area close to Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia on July 30

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.3 magnitude quake struck near Severo-Kuril’sk on Wednesday around midday.

The tremor, which hit the region at 02:32 UTC (12:32 local time), was centered roughly 132 km southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
