LIFOU, Loyalty Islands Province — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.6 magnitude quake struck southeast of the Loyalty Islands Saturday night.

At 12:08 UTC (23:08 local time), the region was hit by a tremor. The earthquake jolted at a depth of 11 km, with its epicenter southeast of the Loyalty Islands of southeast of the Loyalty Islands.
