According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred close to Severo-Kuril’sk Sunday morning.
A tremor struck the region at 20:08 UTC (06:08 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 107 km southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk and occurred at a depth of 41 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later downgraded it to 5.1.
