A 5.0 magnitude quake was detected near Pisco Tuesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The tremor rattled the area at 11:40 UTC (06:40 local time). It occurred at a depth of 47 km with the epicenter located about 25 km west of Pisco.

The agency has received 12 responses on its online form so far, from people reporting they experienced the quake. Weak shaking has been registered and people reported experiencing the tremor in a couple of cities, such as Lima and San Luis, according to the USGS DYFI report.

Past week’s quake
Last week, a single magnitude 2.5 quake was centered in the region. The event was documented close to Paracas, four days ago.
