According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.6 magnitude quake struck close to Severo-Kuril’sk Friday morning.

At 20:08 UTC (07:08 local time), the region was hit by a tremor. The earthquake jolted at a depth of 79 km, with its epicenter approximately 32 km southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk.
