According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.7 magnitude quake occurred close to Severo-Kuril’sk Tuesday morning.

The tremor, which hit the region at 23:40 UTC (09:40 local time), was centered approximately 155 km south of Severo-Kuril’sk. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
